Burna Boy faces backlash for abrupt exit during Greater Lagos Countdown performance

Grammy-winning artist Burna Boy has come under criticism after abruptly leaving the stage during his performance at the Greater Lagos Countdown 2025.

The incident occurred when a fan breached security and rushed toward the singer mid-performance.

Burna Boy immediately halted the show and exited, leaving the audience stunned.

A video of the event, which surfaced online on Wednesday, has ignited mixed reactions.

While some defended the artiste’s decision as a necessary safety precaution, others criticised his actions as disrespectful to his Nigerian audience.

One critic, Basito accused Burna Boy of double standards, writing, “Burna Boy performs in Nigeria like he’s doing us a favor. He only kicks fans off the stage here but treats his overseas fans with more respect.”

Mezie Aba also expressed frustration saying, “Someone paid you for a show, and you delivered halfway because a fan jumped on stage. I don’t understand why he left in such an awful way. Does Burna Boy not get touched by humans abroad?”

Ibra Mal added, “It’s just pride and arrogance—disrespectful to the audience paying for his shows.”

Similarly, Kpakpando Avutu argued that legal action might be the only way to hold Burna Boy accountable, stating, “Until people start suing him, whether they win or not, I don’t think he will learn to control himself and deliver what he’s been paid for.”

However, some fans supported the singer’s response.

DJ Darley wrote, “I don’t understand why fans feel the need to jump on stage. That boy just ruined the show for everyone else.”

Ragnarok echoed this sentiment, asking, “Why do people run up on stage? It’s crazy. Why would you do that? You wan kpai the artist?”

Other stars who performed at the event include Wizkid, Tiwa Savage, Olamide and Seyi Vibez.
