Afrofusion star Burna Boy has stated that he won’t be vocal about the ongoing protests in Nigeria, handing over his self-proclaimed title of African giant to his colleague Falz.

The musician took to X on Thursday to reveal that the fight in him died during the #EndSARS protest in 2020.

“The fight in me died on this day. Ogun go doggy anybody wey call my name this time around,” he said.

His comment stirred reactions from Nigerians who criticised him, pointing out the contradiction between his lyrics, which urge listeners to fight, and his current stance.

In response, Burna Boy said, “I taught you to keep fighting your oppressors, but you chose to fight me.”

When another Nigerian called him a coward for proclaiming himself ‘African giant’ while refusing to take a stand, the 33-year-old replied, “I don hand am over to Falz bros.”

This exchange comes as Nigerians embark on a scheduled 10-day protest against bad governance beginning from Thursday.
