Afro-fusion star Burna Boy has sparked reactions on social media after seemingly mocking South Africans following the emergence of Mia Le Roux, a white South African, as Miss South Africa 2024.

His comment comes in the wake of the controversial withdrawal of contestant Chidimma Adetshina.

Ms Adetshina had announced her exit last Thursday on Instagram amid growing scrutiny over her nationality.

In her statement, she expressed gratitude for the overwhelming support she received during her journey in the pageant.

On Sunday, Burna Boy took to his X (formerly Twitter) account to share a picture of the newly crowned queen, Le Roux, alongside a cryptic message.

He wrote, “So after all that…” followed by laughing emojis. His post was interpreted by many as a dig at the pageant, sparking debate online.

Fans quickly flooded the comments section with their own reactions.

Big K with the username @kwaneleM00 wrote, “Better than an identity thief, crime beneficiary.”

Julius with the username @JuliusAide, added, “My second tattoo will definitely be a map of Africa with the South African part covered with this emoji.”

Nwafresh, using the handle @Nwafresh, commented, “Mandela should have used those 20+ years in jail to hang out at Fela Shrine.”

Chioma, under the username @bzingers, expressed disappointment, saying, “South Africans are so confused, they prefer whites to their fellow Africans… what a shame.”

The newly crowned Miss South Africa, Mia Le Roux, made history as the first deaf winner with a cochlear implant.

She was crowned at the Sun Bet Arena at Time Square in Menlyn, Pretoria.

Le Roux will also be the first contestant with such a disability to compete in Miss Universe 2024, set to take place in Mexico.

During her reign, Mia Le Roux will enjoy numerous rewards, including the prestigious Mowana crown, a luxury apartment, a Mercedes-Benz, R1 million, and more.
