Pop musician, Burna Boy, has been announced the winner of the Best International Act category at the 2019 edition of BET Awards.
The award was received by the singer’s mom and manager, Bose Ogulu.
“You were Africans before you were anything else,” Bose Ogulu said while receiving the award as she admonished the audience.
Burna Boy beat competition from colleague, Mr Eazi, AKA (South Africa); Aya Nakamura (France); Dave (U.K.); Dosseh (France) and Giggs (U.K.) to land the prestigious award.
The entertainment and sports award show, which is in its 19th year, saw Cardi B kicking off performances at the Los Angeles’ Microsoft Theater.
