Lawyer and activist Deji Adeyanju has claimed that musician Burna Boy wrote the petition to the police that got fellow singer Darlington Okoye aka Speed Darlington arrested.
In an X post on Tuesday, Mr Adeyanju said that Speed Darlington, also known as Akpi, was arrested in Lagos last Friday and transferred to Abuja where he has been detained.
“We just spent the last 30mins with Speed Darlington and he narrated how he was arrested in Lagos Friday last week, moved around and eventually brought to Abuja and has been in detention since then. Petition against him was written by Burna Boy, we can confirm,” he wrote.
Adeyanju’s post comes after he announced that the social media sensation’s location had been discovered following alarms raised by his mum and fans.
Earlier, a social media influencer Constance Nwogu expressed concern over the artiste’s whereabouts, noting that he has been unreachable for three days.
Speed Darlington’s arrest is believed to have stemmed from a video he made some time ago asking if Burna Boy deserved his Grammy Award win in 2021 considering his relationship with American music executive Diddy who is facing charges of human trafficking, assault among others.
Speed Darlington had also taunted Burna Boy, asking how much oil Diddy used on him after US investigators said they found tons of baby oil in Diddy’s possession when his residence was searched.
