A bus driver was on Monday beaten mercilessly and teargased by policemen around Aseese, Mowe along Lagos-Ibadan expressway for allegedly colliding with the side mirror of a vehicle being driven by a police officer in mufti.
A journalist who was present at the scene, Yemi Adebisi, narrated the incident on Facebook on Monday morning.
He said the driver lost his strength and was unconscious for hours. According to him, five passengers were also teargased including a nursing mother.
Mr Adebisi, who is the editor of Saturday Independent, added that the policemen called for reinforcement from their office to tow away the vehicle but for the intervention of the media.
The policemen, he continued, tried to lobby him when they realised he was a journalist.
They, however, resolved to take the wounded driver to a clinic for treatment while one of the officers was made to drive the bus to Ketu-Berger area of Lagos State.
