Founder of Hands Lifting Hearts Initiatives, a non-governmental organisation based in Calgary, Canada, Clare Jagunna, has announced plans to extend charity to the less privileged people in Nigeria.
“Our mission is to provide succour and support to women and children that are displaced due to religious, domestic or economic situations in their communities, and this we have been achieving, and we intend to extend to Nigeria,” she said recently.
A graduate of the Ahmadu Bello University and the University of Ilorin, Jagunna relocated to Canada a decade and half years back.
Her interest in social services stemmed from being a volunteer at the children’s department of her church and the Calgary Women Shelter.
In order to understand how the institution works, she went for further training in childcare and disability management.
Also trained at University of Lethbridge, Jagunna said her passion to assist the less privileged was what she inherited from her parents and it increased while at the church as a volunteer.
Her words: “My dad was a prominent philanthropist in Ekiti State, Nigeria and I believe that was a propelling force that drove me into assisting people.”
Married with children, Jagunna has shipped relief materials to Nigeria with the intention of distributing to displaced children and widows.
