The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) has discredited an online report that it plans to revoke the licenses of Unity Bank, Polaris Bank, and Keystone Bank.
The report published on Monday followed the revocation of Heritage Bank’s license.
However, the CBN said there were no such plans in the pipe.
The apex bank’s acting spokesperson Hakama Sidi Ali said in a statement on Monday that the CBN revoked Heritage Bank’s license because the bank’s board and management have been unable to improve its financial performance.
“The Board and Management of the bank have not been able to improve the bank’s financial performance, a situation which constitutes a threat to financial stability,” the statement said.
The CBN also appointed the Nigeria Deposit Insurance Corporation (NDIC) as the liquidator of the bank, in line with Section 12 (3) of the Banks and Other Financial Act 2020.
