The Code of Conduct Tribunal has adjourned the trial of the suspended Chief Justice of Nigeria, Walter Onnoghen, to February 13.
Defence Counsel, Adegboyega Awomolo, had made an application for adjournment at the resumed hearing on Monday.
Mr Awomolo informed the tribunal that the Attorney General of the Federation, Abubakar Malami, had submitted a petition to the National Judicial Council (NJC) on the same subject matter.
He said the need for an adjournment became necessary to avoid the defendant suffering double jeopardy.
Awolowo had earlier clashed with the CCT chairman, Danladi Umar, who insisted that the trial would go on despite the proposition for adjournment being agreed by prosecution counsel, Aliyu Umar.
