Code of Conduct Tribunal (CCT) has summoned a director at the Code of Conduct Bureau (CCB), Theresa Nwafor, to testify in the ongoing trial of suspended Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN), Walter Onnoghen.
Onnoghen’s counsel, Adegboyega Awomolo, had on Monday told the court of the defence’s intention to call “two or three witnesses.”
This comes after CCT chairman, Danladi Umar, rejected Onnoghen’s no-case submission last Friday and adjourned to April 1 with an order for him to open his defence.
Mr Awomolo mentioned one of the proposed witnesses as Mrs. Nwafor. He asked the court to issue a subpoena on Nwafor, summoning her to appear before the tribunal to testify in Onnoghen’s defence.
Lead prosecution lawyer, Aliyu Umar, did not object to Awomolo’s application.
Tribunal chairman granted Awomolo’s application and ordered that Nwafor appears before it at 10 am on Wednesday.
