Chairman of Ejigbo Central Local Government Area in Osun State, Gbenga Ayegbayo, is dead.
Qed.ng learnt the council boss died in the early hours of Monday.
He was said to have suffered complications due to high blood pressure and diabetes.
“The chairman has been in and out of hospital for a while,” a source in the town told our correspondent.
Mr. Ayegbayo’s death is not linked to the coronavirus which hit Ejigbo last week following the arrival of about 127 indigenes from Cote d’Ivoire.
Eighteen of the returnees have tested positive for COVID-19.
There was panic in the town over the weekend when one of the patients escaped from the hospital where they were kept in isolation.
The Osun State Government on Saturday announced that the woman has been found and returned to the isolation centre.
