Bayern Munich joined Barcelona in sealing qualification for the last 16 of the Champions League on Tuesday with a crushing 4-0 win against Olympiakos in Germany.

Douglas Costa scored on eight minutes as keeper Roberto Gago could only parry Jerome Boateng’s shot into his path.

Robert Lewandowski put Bayern two goals up when Kingsley Coman’s blocked shot fell to him at the top of the box, and Thomas Muller made it 3-0 after Coman’s wide shot was headed back across goal by Arjen Robben for Muller’s tap-in.

Although Holger Badstuber was sent off in the second half for bringing down Brown Ideye, Coman found his goal with a soft header in the 70th minute to cap the scoring.

Pep Guardiola’s Bayern are now certain to finish on top of Group F, while Arsenal remain in contention after Alexis Sanchez scored twice in a 3-0 win over Dinamo Zagreb in London.

They remain three points behind Olympiakos in second and will go to Greece to decide who finishes second next month.

Mesut Ozil opened the scoring in the 26th minute before Sanchez doubled the lead four minutes later when Nacho Monreal pounced on a poor clearance and fed the Chilean in the centre of the box.

Sanchez grabbed his second of the game when he latched on to Joel Campbell’s reverse pass before rounding goalkeeper Eduardo and lifting into the net.

A victory in the last game away to Olympiakos could guarantee progression to the next round of the competition.

Barcelona earlier secured their place before kicking a ball at home to Roma thanks to a 1-1 draw between BATE Borisov and Bayer Leverkusen in Belarus.

The reigning European champions then clinched top spot in Group E in style, crushing Roma 6-1 at the Camp Nou with Luis Suarez and Lionel Messi among the goals.

Suarez was first to open the scoring on 15 minutes when Neymar passed across for the Uruguayan to tap in at the far post.

Three minutes later, Suarez played a ball over the top to Messi, who chipped Wojciech Szczesny to double Barcelona’s lead.

Suarez made it 3-0 shortly before half-time when Roma’s half-clearance lined up perfectly for him to finish with a spectacular volley from 15 yards out.

In the second half, Messi raced in on the side of box and passed across to Gerard Pique to score easily.

Messi then found his second goal four minutes later after a display of Barcelona tiki-taka left him alone in centre of the box. Szczesny saved his initial effort before Messi’s follow-up completed an ideal return.

Barca added their final goal in the 77th minute when Adriano followed up on Neymar’s saved penalty attempt.

Roma’s Eden Dzeko saw a late penalty attempt saved but he was later able to find a consolation goal with the last kick of the game.

Elsewhere, Chelsea closed in on qualification from Group G with a 4-0 win at Maccabi Tel Aviv while Dynamo Kiev kept alive their hopes by beating Porto 2-0 in Portugal.

Gary Cahill provided the opener on 20 minutes when keeper Predrag Rajkovic could only parry his header onto the post, before the Blues defender followed up with a tap-in.

Willian curled home a trademark free kick before Oscar headed in from Baba Rahman’s cross from the left.

Chelsea scored their fourth in the final moments when Kurt Zouma headed in Oscar’s corner from close range.

In Russia, Zenit St Petersburg, who had already qualified, secured top spot in Group H with a fifth win in five as they beat Valencia 2-0.

Oleg Shatov gave the home side the lead after a quarter of an hour and the prolific Artem Dzyuba secured the points in the second half before Valencia defender Ruben Vezo was sent off.

Gent are second after coming from behind to win 2-1 at Lyon as Kalifa Coulibaly got a last-gasp goal.

Real Madrid and Manchester City, who play on Wednesday, had already qualified for the knockout stage after the last round of games.
