Chairman of Chanchangi Airlines Nigeria Limited, Ahmadu Chanchangi, has died on Wednesday morning.
The Kaduna-based billionaire died along the Kaduna-Abuja Road on the way to a hospital in Abuja for emergency treatment.
Family sources said he battled a protracted illness.
“He will be buried by 2 p.m. today (Wednesday) according to Islamic right at the Bashama Road cemetery,” PREMIUM TIMES quoted a family source as saying.
The Taraba-born business mogul is believed to be survived by three wives and about 33 children, among who is Rufai Chanchangi, a member of the House of Representative.
Deputy Senate leader, Bala Ibn Na’Allah, and a former member of the Kaduna State House of Assembly, Mohammed Ali, are some of the earliest dignitaries to commiserate with the family of the deceased at his home in Kaduna.
Chanchangi founded Chanchangi Airlines Nigeria Limited, a privately owned and operated airline on January 5, 1994.
With head office in Kaduna, Nigeria, the airline operates scheduled domestic passenger services, with the main base at the Murtala Mohammed International Airport, Lagos, and hubs in Kaduna, Abuja and Port Harcourt.
