Maverick entertainer and social crusader, Charly Boy, has become a grandfather for the 16th time.
The former president of the Performing Musicians Employers Association of Nigeria (PMAN) announced the birth of the child in a message he posted on Instagram on Sunday morning.
“While you’re in church today, please, biko, help me thank God for giving me my 16th grandchild a son. Ha!!! Baba you’re peppering me with too much blessings,” he wrote.
In a brief telephone chat with Qed.ng, the man born Charles Oputa said in Pidgin English, “even as I poor, na so so blessings dey follow me.”
The Area Fada, as he is also known, Charly Boy had his first child as a teenager.
He had a string of affairs with women and had seven children before he married American Diane Oputa whom he met in a beauty salon while studying in the United States.
The two have been together since 1979.
The father of nine children, Charly Boy celebrated his 67th birthday on Tuesday, June 19, 2018.
