A Twitter message posted by the club on Wednesday reads: “Loic Remy will wear the number 18 for @chelseafc… #CFC”
The Blues activated Remy’s buy-out clause of £10.5m and signed the striker from Queens Park Rangers on the last days of the transfer window.
Remy spent the last season on loan at Newcastle United and scored 14 goals in 27 appearances for the club.
Harry Redknapp wanted to keep the France international at QPR, but failed to convince the Frenchman to stay at the club.
Remy was on the verge of joining Liverpool earlier this summer, however the move broke down after he failed to pass a medical, and then Chelsea beat Arsenal to his signature.
The 27-year-old, who is currently on international duty with France, is hoping to discover his best form under Jose Mourinho after his addition to Chelsea’s strike force.
He joins Diego Costa and Didier Drogba as the club’s recognised strikers.
Fernando Torres’ departure to AC Milan for the final two years of his five-and-a-half-year Chelsea contract – in effect ending his time at Stamford Bridge following his £50million move from Liverpool in January 2011 – necessitated the arrival of Remy to join Costa and Drogba signed earlier in the summer.
