Chelsea goalkeeper, Thibaut Courtois, has stoked speculation about an exit from Stamford Bridge, saying he received a fax from Real Madrid wishing him a speedy recovery when he injured his knee.
The Belgian suffered an injury to his knee last season in a Premier League clash with Everton.
He has revealed how he was sent a message by Real to wish him good luck in returning to full fitness.
Courtois exploded onto the world stage with his standout performances during three seasons on loan at Atletico Madrid, returning to Chelsea to oust incumbent Petr Cech.
He still enjoys a big reputation in Spain, and he told Spanish newspaper, Marca, “Real Madrid showed me a very nice gesture when I injured my knee last year they sent me a fax to wish me a speedy recovery.”
Courtois has also revealed how he will consider returning to Spain when his current contract with Chelsea runs out in 2018.
Chelsea chose the Belgium international over Cech two years ago because they saw him as the long-term solution.
And the 24-year-old said “I have a contract with Chelsea for three more seasons. In 2018 when I am in the last year of my contract we will have to evaluate if it is best for me to renew or leave.”
Asked about a return to La Liga one day he said “When I left Spain I already knew that one day I was going to go back.”
Courtois won La Liga with Atletico Madrid while on loan from Chelsea and has been linked with Real Madrid in the past.
Asked if he missed Atletico he said “Yes, but not just for the club, for Madrid itself and for the whole country. From the first minute there I feel in love with Spain, with the people and the way of life. I still eat late, take a siesta and watch Spanish television. I feel half Spanish.”
Courtois told Marca he still keeps in regular contact with former team-mates at the Vicente Calderon Juanfran, Koke, Gabi and Felipe Luis.
