Nigerian administrator, Michael Emenalo, has ended his 10-year association with Chelsea following his sudden departure as the club’s Technical Director.
Emenalo, 52, won 14 caps for the Super Eagles and played in the 1994 FIFA World Cup, missing the first game through injury but then featured against Argentina and Greece.
The news surrounding the ex-defender, who could be set to join Monaco, will come as a major blow to owner Roman Abramovich.
The Blues have won the Premier League title three times, the FA Cup, the League Cup, the Europa League and the Champions League while Emenalo has been at the club.
The latest Premier League triumph came under current boss Conte in his first season in English football.
However, Emenalo’s playing career was far less eventful.
He started his career at Enugu Rangers but never got to the level of playing in the Premier League.
Emenalo watched Chelsea beat title rivals Manchester United 1-0 at Stamford Bridge on Sunday afternoon – sitting behind the Blues’ dugout.
He joined the club when former manager Avram Grant was in charge in 2007.
After the departure of Ray Wilkins, Emenalo was promoted from his position as chief scout to assistant first-team coach.
Barely one year after, Abramovich appointed the Nigerian Technical Director.
