Renowned novelist Chimamanda Adichie will on October 9 bury her father Prof James Adichie.
The requiem mass will be held St. Paul’s Catholic Church, Abba, Njikoka Local Government Area of Anambra State.
Adichie, who was Nigeria’s first professor of statistics, died on June 10 aged 88 after a brief illness.
Announcing the burial in a statement on behalf of the family on Friday, Chuks Adichie said on October 8 at 6pm there would be a vigil mass at Prof. Adichie’s compound, Umueri, Ezi-Abba village, Abba.
The statement added that other funeral rites will be observed while observing COVID-19 protocols.
Adichie celebrated his 88th birthday on March 1 and had been a member of International Statistical Institute (ISI) since 1978.
From 1985 to 1987, he was a member of ISI governing council.
He bagged his PhD in statistics from the University of California-Berkeley and was named professor emeritus in 2016 at the University of Nigeria, Nsukka.
