Billionaire businessman, Femi Otedola, has promised to foot the entire cost of ex-Nigerian footballer and coach, Christian Chukwu’s surgery.
This development was reported by TheCable on Monday.
Speaking to TheCable on phone, Otedola is quoted to have said that he would foot the entire cost of the operation as a “token of support to a great Nigerian who served his country to the best of his ability.”
This is not the first time Femi Otedola would sponsor the treatment of an ailing star.
In February, he released $100,000 for the treatment of sick Nollywood actor, Victor Olaotan.
Since news broke of his health challenge, the Nigerian Football Federation (NFF) has also promised to cater for the treatment of Christian Chukwu.
Christian is fondly remembered for his role as the captain of the 1980 Africa Cup of Nations –winning team.
He later served as the assistant coach of the first Nigerian team to win a FIFA World Cup trophy at the FIFA U16 World Cup in China in 1985.
