Super Eagles winger, Samuel Chukwueze, has undergone the mandatory coronavirus test along with his Villarreal teammates.
This comes ahead of the return of the Spanish LaLiga.
La Liga confirmed on Monday that footballers will return to training this week as games are expected to begin in Spain in mid-June.
“Our club would most likely resume training on Thursday because we have done all our medical tests and we are expected to observe all the rules against COVID-19 especially the use mouth guards during the trainings,” Chukwueze told NationSport.
He has been training at home under strict measures.
The 21-year-old said his team would do their best to qualify for European competition. Villarreal is on eighth position on the La Liga table.
“I’m really looking forward to scoring more goals when the La Liga resumes and try as much as possible to assist my team in ensuring that we get a ticket to play in the UEFA Champions League,” he said.
“We were on the right track before the La Liga was suspended and we are going to continue where we stopped when we resume.”
