Erstwhile Super Eagles forward, Yakubu Aiyegbeni, is edging closer to joining English side, Coventry City FC.
The 34-year-old hasn’t played active football since the start of the 2016/17 season after being released by Turkish side, Kayserispor, last summer.
Aiyegbeni is expected to undergo a medical with the struggling League One side on Monday.
Coventry have failed to register a single goal in the last four league games, and with new loan recruits, Michael Folivi and Charles Vernam, injured, Russell Slade is desperately short of attacking options.
Aiyegbeni will be expected to provide experience and goals to keep the club in the English third tier.
Should the ex-Julius Berger star join The Sky Blues, it will become his seventh English team in 13 years.
The powerful striker has already represented Portsmouth, Middlesbrough, Everton, Leicester City, Blackburn Rovers and most recently Reading.
Aiyegbeni remains one of Africa’s finest marksmen in the history of the Premier League with over 100 goals.
He is also Nigeria’s record third top scorer with 21 goals behind Rashidi Yekini and Segun Odegbami.
