CNN journalist, Isha Sesay, on Sunday started a Jollof rice war which later turned into a friendly exchange with Nigerians on Twitter.
She stated that Sierra Leone makes better Jollof rice than Nigeria.
First of all- let’s not start another round of #jollofrice wars on a Sunday… though for the record the jellof in #SierraLeone is better…#justsayin. Back to matters at hand, my kitchen escapade will not include rice of any kind 😁 https://t.co/LkvR8HxBA9

Knowing how passionate Nigerians are about the debate, the 41-year-old British of Sierra Leonean descent quickly called on her country people to give her backup in a war that was lost even before it started.
Calling all #SierraLeoneans on twitter. I have accidently started a new #jollofrice war with #Nigeria. I’m going to need back up. 😁 #truthhurts #oursisbetterthanyours

Of course, Nigerians wasted no time in telling her which country makes the best Jollof rice.
Fellow Nigerians, please be gentle with @IshaSesayCNN. She’s ordinarily a good person. “This is not ordinary eye.”😂 https://t.co/gA2w5n8Mhx

Asin… Which one is Sierra Leone in jollof wars? They haven’t even made it past group stage, not to talk of knock out phase. Make dem rest joor. 😛😛😛

Looool. No. If you’re going to slander #NigerianJollof you must follow due process. #SierraLeoneans and #Ghanaians should square up and the winner should then come and challenge the almighty #NigerianJollof. We own this. 😁

Not in a million years. Nigerian #jollofrice is the best. You probably had the jollof here in a Restaurant that is being owned by SierraLeonas in collaboration with Ghanaians just to sabotage our efforts.

Don’t even go there sis!
First off, WHAT is Sierra Leone? Is that the name of a person, animal, place or THING? pic.twitter.com/utKngDe0EF

Even non-Nigerians knew she could not win the war.

Isha, who in July credited doctors in Nigeria for saving her mother’s life, then turned on her charm by tweeting in Pidgin English.
Mek Surulere go sit down and chop we salone #jollofrice. E ask mek #salone give am passport. Straight! https://t.co/oAg8vRZzqM

Not a few of her Nigerian “adversaries” were won over, even if majority insist that Sierra Leone Jollof rice is inferior to Nigeria’s.
She later called for a ceasefire, joking that the matter has been relayed to the United Nations and that she was off to bed.
In matter of Sierra Leone vs Nigeria. Facts have been relayed to UN security Sec.Council. Sources say tense discussions underway to settle issue of which country has right to claim title of “Best Jollof.”CNN will bring you details as they come in. Till then I’m off to bed 😉 😂
