A cross section of people who spoke to News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Yola and Mubi towns said they we were happy with the development and prayed for permanent end to the insurgency.
Mr Ibrahim Buba, a Mubi resident, said he was happy with the development as displaced persons from the crisis areas had started returning to Madagali and Michika towns.
He said “many of us that fled Mubi following the attack on Madagali and Michika have returned because of the victory over the terrorists.
“We now have confidence that the military is equal to the task and you can see that even banks that closed operations in Mubi have started returning.’’
Another resident of Mubi, Mr Daniel Kwaji, also lauded the development, particularly the killing of the sect leader, Abubakar Shekau.
He said “we are happy with what we are hearing, particularly the killing of Shekau by our soldiers.
“We want the military to sustain the tempo by recovering the areas still under the insurgents, particularly villages in Madagali and Michika local government areas of the state.’’
Many Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) who also spoke to NAN in their camps in Yola, said they were happy with the development and urged the military to do something about areas still under the control of the insurgents so that they could go back to their homes.
