There was confusion early on Thursday morning over the reported death of veteran actress Sidikat Odukanwi, popularly known as Iyabo Oko,
Her daughter Bisi Aisha had announced her death in an Instagram post on Wednesday night.
“My mum is gone. Rest well mummy. May your soul Rest In Peace mummy,” Bisi wrote.
Fellow actress Foluke Daramola-Salako also announced that the 61-year-old was dead on her Instagram page, writing “and finally we lost her. RIP Iyabo Oko. We did our best but God knows best.”
Bisi, however, returned to Instagram on Thursday morning to say her mother was not dead after all.
“Wonderful being. She moved her hand after being confirmed dead three hours ago. God, we will forever praise your HOLY name,” she wrote.
Foluke also retracted the post announcing Iyabo Oko’s death.
“Updates on Iyabo Oko. Just heard from her daughter again that she moved her hand that she’s still alive o.
“Hallelujah o she’s alive o. It was her same daughter that announced her death to me before and she was the one that said she’s alive now,” the 43-year-old wrote.
The actress wrote in another post: “Yes she is already in the hospital as we speak. Thank you everyone. We still need your prayers please.”
Bisi and Foluke have deleted their earlier posts in which they hastily announced Iyabo Oko’s death.
