Chelsea coach, Antonio Conte, has urged Nigeria midfielder, Victor Moses, to snub a potential move to Barcelona in favour of establishing himself at Stamford Bridge.
Moses, 25, who has had a revival under the Italian, is reported to be on the wish-list of the Spanish giants to solve their right-back crisis.
However, Conte whose side are unbeaten in their last six Premier League matches, believes the former Wigan attacker should concentrate on his football and not get carried away by speculations.
“For everything [regarding contracts], there is the right time to speak,” Conte told a press conference at Cobham Training Centre on Friday.
“About Victor, I repeat, it’s important to be focused on the present. It’s important to be focused game by game.
“Now we are doing very well. But, for me, I don’t want to think that my players see ‘so long’ (into the future). I like to think my players are focused on the present, not the future so long-term.
“We have just started in this league and, after a period, two bad defeats, we won six games in a row. This is important, now, to continue this. To be focused, to work for the present. Not to look at the future.”
While Conte is fighting to keep hold of Moses, same cannot be said of his compatriot, Mikel Obi, who is certain to miss the clash with Tottenham.
Mikel’s contract expires at the end of the season and is yet to get a look this season by the gaffer who concedes he is unaware of the midfielder’s current situation.
“I don’t know, I don’t know what will happen in January,” added Conte.
“Now, I know for sure that I have a squad of players and I’m very happy to have them. In January, we’ll see.”
