Chelsea coach, Antonio Conte, has sent warm wishes to departing midfielder, Mikel Obi, who joins Chinese Super League side, Tianjin TEDA.

Mikel, 29, confirmed his exit from the Premier League table toppers on Friday after 10 and half fruitful years.

Conte, who is partly responsible for Mikel’s departure due to his oversight of the Nigerian, thanked the 29-year-old for his professionalism and commitment.

“I thank Mikel for the period he worked with me. He showed great attitude and I wish him and his family the best,” the Italian stated in a press statement on Friday.

“I hope Mikel and Oscar are the last of my players to receive offers from China. It is important to remain with this squad.”

Chelsea captain, John Terry, also sent a heartfelt message to Mikel, who was until Friday Chelsea’s second longest serving player behind the Englishman.

Both players won two Premier League, four FA Cup, two League Cup, a Champions League and a Europa League titles together in what is often described as the golden era of Chelsea.

For Terry, Mikel is a legend of a player.
