A Kano Shari’a Court has ordered that female TikToker Murja Ibrahim Kunya be subjected to a psychiatric evaluation.
Justice Nurah Yusuf gave the order on Tuesday morning following Kunya’s appearance in court.
The defendant, who lives at Tishama Hotoro Quarters Kano, is standing trial on a three-count charge of inciting public disturbance, belonging to criminal gang and criminal intimidation brought against her by the Kano State Hisbah Board.
Justice Yusuf expressed concern about Kunya’s conduct during the court proceedings, suggesting that she might be under the influence of drugs or could be dealing with a mental health issue. Consequently, he directed her release from the correctional facility to the custody of the Hisbah Board.

The judge tasked Hisbah Board with ensuring that Kunya receives a thorough evaluation by a psychiatrist to determine her mental state.
The court thereafter adjourned the trial until May 20, 2023, pending the medical report from the psychiatric evaluation.
Following concerns about her whereabouts, Kano State Government said on Monday that Kunya was only moved out of the correctional facility by security agents to facilitate investigation in another matter involving her.
Earlier, the prosecutor Aliyu Abideen said Hisbah Board arrested the defendent after receiving several complaints from members of the public.
He alleged that the defendant terrorised Tishama Hotoro Quarters in Kano by bringing hodlums at midnight.
“The defendant in one of her videos on Tiktok which went viral said she is the leader of all prostitute in the city,” Abideen said.
The defendant denied the offences.
