The future of German tactician Gernot Rohr as coach of the Super Eagles is in doubt following rumour of his sack by the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF).
Rohr has managed to lead the team to the 2022 World Cup play-offs after finishing top of Group C despite being held 1-1 by Cape Verde in Lagos on Tuesday.
Sports broadcaster Sulaiman Adebayo aka Pooja said in a tweet on Thursday that NFF officials confirmed Rohr is still coach.
“Top NFF officials have confirmed that Gernot Rohr is still the coach of the Super Eagles as no official news yet. Even inside the Glasshouse, no confirmation yet,” he tweeted.
However, Vanguard reports that the NFF entered into a meeting to decide Rohr’s fate.
Premium Times gathered that Rohr is being urged to resign.
Rohr was appointed head coach in August 2016 and led the team to a third-place finish at the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).
