Former Kogi governorship candidate, Natasha Akpoti, has accused the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) of negligence, saying she called the centre’s emergency phone number severally but there was no response.
Akpoti said in a tweet on Thursday that she called the number out of curiosity 10 times on Wednesday and thrice on Thursday but that there was still no response.
“Shame on us? Out of curiosity I dialled @NCDCgov on 080 9700 0010 to see their responsiveness to #COVID19 cases but no one picked,” the 40-year-old began.
“Called 10 times yesterday and 3ice today… rang out. This is quite sad and unfortunate. #CoronaVirusUpdate #FightCOVID19 #StayAtHomeChallenge.”
The NCDC has been at the forefront of the fight against the novel coronavirus and sensitisation of the public on the issue.
