Actress Lizzy Gold has said that the Elephants of Cote d’Ivoire deserve to win the African Cup of Nations (AFCON) because they played more than Nigeria.
The 36-year-old stated this in an Instagram post on Monday after Nigeria’s defeat against the host country.
The match ended on a disappointing note for Nigeria as the Super Eagles were beaten 2-1 by the Elephants of Cote d’Ivoire on Sunday night.
Franck Kessie and Sebastien Haller scored to hand the trophy to the host at the Alassane Quattara Olympic Stadium in Abidjan.
Weighing in her thoughts, Lizzy God shared what seems to be a statistic on the tournament saying, “The truth is The Ivorians played more than Nigerians …..check the statistics.”
“They deserve it, fact on fact cause Nigeria played nothing,'” the post added.
Her statement was, however, met with mixed reactions as many criticised her in the comment section of the post.
“You better don’t start saying what you don’t know, as a filmmaker NA all your film Dey sweet to watch?????? Queen wrote.
“Who ask you this one this morning now, abi the high cost of things in Nigeria is not affecting you, nor be your fault sha the poor go still use their small data to watch your movie on YouTube, so money is coming you do not care about what’s going on in the country,” Natasha Blessing added.
