A Kano State High Court has fixed April 17 for the arraignment of former governor Abdullahi Ganduje, his wife, son, and five others over alleged bribery.
They will be arraigned before Justice Usman Na’aba by the state on eight counts bordering on a $413,000 bribery allegation, diversion, and misappropriation of funds to the tune of N1.38bn, among others.
Kano charges Ganduje, wife, son with $413,000, N1.38bn bribery
Ganduje earlier mocked his successor Governor Abba Yusuf, reminding him that the Federal High Court in Kano had ruled that the Kano Public Compliant and Anti-Corruption Commission lacks the power to investigate him (Ganduje) for allegedly taking $5 million bribe which was captured in a video because it was a federal offence.
However, attorney general of Kano Haruna Dederi told Daily Trust on Tuesday: “He (Ganduje) was saying that we can’t prosecute him forgetting that the offence also falls under the category of the state offences. It’s not totally a federal affair.”
