A Federal High Court in Ilorin, Kwara State capital has granted bail in the sum of N50 million to the former governor of Kwara State, Abdulfatah Ahmed.
The court also ruled on Friday that he is to provide two sureties with landed properties in Ilorin.
Ahmed will also deposit his passport with the court.
According to the court’s ruling, the erstwhile governor will be in the custody of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) until he meets the bail conditions.
Meanwhile, journalists were barred from covering the arraignment of the former governor.

Ahmed was taken by the anti-graft agency on Monday and questioned over transactions running into billions of naira from his time as governor of the state.
He was once quizzed in May 2021 by operatives at the EFCC headquarters in the Jabi area of Abuja in connection with the alleged diversion of funds to the tune of about N9 billion from the coffers of the Kwara State Government.
Ahmed was governor of the North Central state between May 2011 and May 2019 before he handed over to Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq.
