A Court of Appeal in Abuja on Wednesday lifted the movement restriction on the convener of #RevolutionNow, Omoyele Sowore.
In 2019, a Federal High Court in Abuja restricted the publisher of Sahara Reporters to Abuja following charges of treasonable felony and cyber-stalking President Muhammadu Buhari.
Sowore was arrested in a Lagos hotel by operatives of the Department of State Services on August 3, 2019, for planning to organise #RevolutionNow protest nationwide.
He was subsequently restricted to Abuja as part of the bail conditions granted to him by Justice Ijeoma Ojukwu.
However, ruling on Wednesday, the Appellate Court said that Sowore could now leave Abuja but not travel out of Nigeria.
The court said that the restriction of the presidential aspirant to Abuja was “excessive”.
