A Federal High Court in Abuja on Monday ordered the transfer of the deputy commissioner of police, Abba Kyari, and six others facing drug trafficking charges to the Kuje Correctional Centre.
The defendants were initially in the custody of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA).
The order from Justice Emeka Nwike followed the denial of bail.
The court equally denied bail to former members of the Inspector-General of Police Intelligence Response Team (IRT), ACP Sunday Ubia, Inspector Simon Agirgba, and Inspector John Nuhu.
Other defendants in the charge marked FHC/ABJ/57/2022 are ASP Bawa James, as well as two alleged drug traffickers that were arrested at the Akanu Ibiam International Airport in Enugu, Chibunna Umeibe and Emeka Ezenwane.
Also, Justice Nwite ordered accelerated trial of the defendants, and fixed April 28 for the review of facts in respect of the case against Umeibe and Ezenwane.
The aforementioned pleaded guilty to the drug trafficking charge against them.
