A Shari’a Court in Kano has ordered the remand of TikToker Murja Ibrahim Kunya in a correctional facility for one week.
Kunya was arrested by Kano State Hisbah Board and arraigned before the court over alleged immorality.
She pleaded not guilty to the charges.
Her lawyer Aliyu Umar appealed to the court to grant her bail, noting that she would attend court sitting consistently.

Umar premised his appeal for bail on Sections 35 and 36 of the constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and Sections 168, 172 and 173 of the SPCL.
The prosecution counsel Aminu Umar did not object to the bail application.
However, Justice Nura Ahmed ordered that the former Kannywood actress be remanded in a correctional facility till February 20, 2024.
In November 2023, the commander-general of Hisbah board, Sheikh Aminu Daurawa invited Kunya and other female TikTokers in Kano to a session where the board offered to rehabilitate and empower them with businesses and scholarships.
