A Kaduna State High Court has summoned the Controller of the Kaduna Correctional Facility to appear before it over the trial of leader of the Islamic Movement in Nigeria (IMN), Ibrahim El-Zakzaky, and wife, Zeenat.
During resumption of trial on Monday, the court stood down proceedings till noon to hear from the controller why El-Zakzaky’s wife was allegedly disallowed from seeing her personal physician while being held at the correctional centre.
The court, presided over by Justice Gideon Kurada, was told by one of El-Zakzaky’s lawyers, Abubakar Marshal, that Zeenat was refused access to her personal physician contrary to the order of the court.
El-Zakzaky and his wife are facing eight-count charges brought against them by the Kaduna State Government over allegations of culpable homicide, unlawful assembly, and disruption of the public peace, among others.
