An Upper Shariah Court at Kofar Kudu in Kano has summoned political singer Dauda Rarara to appear before it on December 22 for alleged illegal camping and hiding of a married woman who featured in one of his music videos.
Husband of the woman filed a complaint before the court, claiming the singer used his wife in the video for the song ‘Jihata, Jihata ce’ after which her whereabouts remain unknown.
He also alleged that for three months the whereabouts of his wife was not known.
The presiding Shariah judge Ustaz Yola fixed December 22 for the continuation of the case.
The Katsina-born singer came under fire in recent times especially on social media where some accused him of contributing to their suffering since his music encouraged people to vote for President Muhammadu Buhari in 2015 and 2019 elections.
He told BBC in September that only the poor are allowed to contribute to the money he is gathering to sing for Buhari.
