The Covenant University, Ota, Ogun State has appointed Shola Coker as the first female Dean of Students Affairs (DSA) after 20 years of its existence.
Prof. Abiodun Adebayo, the Vice-Chancellor of the institution, made this known in a statement issued to newsmen on Wednesday in Ota, Ogun.
Adebayo said that the Board of Regents of the University approved the appointment of Mrs Coker, following the completion of term of the former Dean, Prof. David Imhonopi.
The VC said that the new DSA was one of the 2007 graduates of the Department of Psychology, Covenant University.
Coker holds a Master’s Degree in Managerial Psychology and Professional Diploma in Human Resources Management, member of Association of Professional Counsellors in Nigeria and Associate Member of Chartered Institute of Personnel Management.
The new DSA joined the service of the Counseling Units of Covenant University in 2013 and served in many committees of the institution, which include Student Support Programme (SSP), Onesimus Project and Convocation Planning Committee (CPC).
Coker also served in Covenant Illuminations (Coordinator), Sports Committee and the Covenant University Scholastic and Aptitude Screening.
She is an active member of two research clusters in the university, and successfully got the Martha Farrell Fellowship Grant for Sexual Harassment Trainings in Higher Institutions in October 202.
Coker, a board member of the Hebron Start-up Lab., is currently serving as the Vice President, University Relations on the Covenant University Alumni Association Leadership team.
The VC commended Prof Imhonopi for being remarkable steward; serving dedicatedly and tirelessly during his tenure and wished him well in his future endeavours.
