Lagos Commissioner for Education Folashade Adefisayo on Monday paid impromptu visits to schools in the state to monitor compliance to COVID-19 protocols.
According to Jubril Gawat social media aide to Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, some of the schools visited as of press time include Sango Senior Secondary School, Agege; Yewa Junior High School, Agege; Dairy Farm Senior Secondary school, Agege; District Junior College, Agege; and Unity Junior College, Agege.
The state government had last Friday restated its earlier pronouncement that all public and private schools in Lagos below tertiary level should resume on January 18 for the second term 2020/2021 academic session.
Welcoming all to a happy and successful new academic term, Mrs Adefisayo, in a statement, urged students and teachers to stay safe and adhere strictly to COVID-19 guidelines, adding that schools must provide soap, wash hand basin, alcoholic hand sanitisers, thermometers and other essential items in public and private schools across the state.
Among others, she stressed that washing of hands, wearing of face masks, and maintenance of social distancing must be adhered to in order to avoid further spread of the virus.
