The Commissioner of Police in Kano State, Wakili Mohammed, has met with the Resident Electoral Commissioner of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in the state, Prof. Riskuwa Shehu.
Reasons for the meeting is still unknown, however, it is speculated that it could be connected to the security situation in the state following the governorship election held on Saturday.
Wakili had arrested the deputy governor of Kano State, Nasiru Gawuna, and the state commissioner for local government, Sule Garo, on Monday morning for allegedly disrupting collation of results of the governorship elections at the Nasarawa local government area collation centre.
Meanwhile, there have been reinforcement of armed soldiers, policemen and officers of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) at the commission’s headquarters in Kano.
