Cubana Chief Priest has reacted to a viral video of reigning Mr Nigeria Supranational, Ugo Nwokolo, in which the model alleged that media personality Nedu Wazobia pressured him to make controversial statements during his appearance on The Honest Bunch podcast.
Nwokolo made the claims in an interview with social media personality Lucky Udu on Wednesday.
The model’s appearance on the podcast in January sparked backlash after he stated that he was more attracted to “poor girls,” suggesting that the less money a woman has, the more appealing she is to him.
His comments were widely criticised for being demeaning to women.
However, in a new twist, Nwokolo now claims that Nedu manipulated him into making those remarks to ensure the episode went viral.
He alleged that after winning the Mr Nigeria Supranational competition in October 2024, he approached Nedu to feature on the podcast to share his journey before competing internationally in Poland.
According to him, Nedu requested N5 million for the appearance and rejected his initial discussion topic, allegedly saying that Nigerians were not interested in intelligent conversations.
Nwokolo further alleged that after making the payment, Nedu informed him that another guest would be joining the episode to make it more engaging.
The model said he protested, insisting he had paid to promote himself. After negotiations, he was promised a partial refund of N2 million but was still pressured into making the controversial statement.
He also claimed Nedu told him to mention social media critic VeryDarkMan (VDM) by name to generate buzz, boasting that he had previously made social media influencer Saida Boj famous.
“Poor girls don’t turn me on. Nedu told me to say that,” Nwokolo alleged.
“It’s against my character. I have met manipulators, narcissists, gaslighters, and scammers, but Nedu is a discovery.”
Reacting to the allegations, Cubana Chief Priest accused Lucky Udu of instructing Nwokolo to mention VeryDarkMan’s name to attack Nedu.
Sharing the video on his Instagram Story, he wrote, “Just imagine this nonsense. Must this guy trample on people to climb? This is so sad. You clearly told him to call VDM because you want to fight Nedu. So stupid!!!”
The allegations come days after Nedu resigned from the podcast following accusations from VeryDarkMan.
The social media critic had claimed that Nedu orchestrated a smear campaign against him by bringing BBNaija star DeeOne on the show, where DeeOne alleged that VeryDarkMan was gay.
In retaliation, VeryDarkMan accused Nedu of sleeping with multiple women and claimed that guests on The Honest Bunch were often paid to defame others.
