Cubana Chief Priest’s naira abuse case adjourned to June 25

A Federal High Court in Lagos has adjourned the case of naira abuse against businessman Pascal Okechukwu aka Cubana Chief Priest till June 25.

The three-count charge brought against him by the EFCC was due for mention on Wednesday, however, journalists learnt it had been adjourned.

Cubana Chief Priest is accused of spraying and tampering with naira notes during a social event at Eko Hotel and Suites in Lagos.

He had pleaded not guilty and was granted bail in the sum of N10 million.

At the last adjourned date on May 2, the defence counsel, Chikaosolu Ojukwu (SAN), informed the court that parties were exploring settlement and had applied that the matter be settled pursuant to the provisions of section 14(2) of the EFCC Act.

Following the position, defence counsel applied for withdrawal of the preliminary objection, and since there was no objection from the prosecution, the court granted same and adjourned until June 5 to hear report on settlement.
