Veteran musician Daddy Showkey has condemned former boxer Floyd Mayweather’s meeting with the minister of transportation Rotimi Amaechi at his Abuja residence on Monday.
In a video posted on Instagram on Tuesday, the singer said that those who have been promoting boxing and doing everything possible to bring the sport alive in Nigeria are constantly neglected.
He added that those who celebrate international boxers and take them to government officials are ‘stupid’.
He said: “You are stupid. People that have been promoting boxing around our country doing everything to bring boxing back alive in our country, you’ll bring international boxers and celebrate them, you will not take people that have been celebrating boxing to come here at least to carry the campaign.
“You’ll take them to government officials that don’t support boxing that does encourage our sports, that don’t support boxing that has killed our sport generally. No be mumu una be?”
Mayweather retired from professional boxing in 2017 with an undefeated multi-weight record, winning 15 major world championships from super featherweight to light-middleweight category.
