The management of Akwa Ibom has expressed delight over the club’s new partnership with a foremost airline, Dana Air.
Chairman of the club, Paul Bassey, described the development as rewarding and worthwhile as it saves the team the stress of tedious road travels to match venues.
“Situations like this gives us more reason to continue to appreciate Dana Air for this wonderful partnership deal with our great club,” Mr Bassey was quoted by FootballLive on Wednesday.
“Road trip from Uyo to Kano is usually a traumatic experience not only for the players but for the officials as well. Because of the landmark partnership agreement with Dana Air, we have been able to move from Uyo to Kano in less than twelve hours, a journey that would have taken us two days by road.
” Dana Airlines have demonstrated that they are willing and committed in promoting the growth of football in Nigeria. We will continue to source and negotiate with corporate organisations to partner with us to move our club to enviable heights.”
Players and officials of the Aiteo Cup Champions touched down at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja on board Dana Airlines Sunday morning en route Kano for Wednesday’s Aiteo Cup quarter-final clash with Enugu Rangers.
The Champions finished as Group D runners-up in the Round of 16 behind Nasarawa United with six points from three games and will battle Rangers in the last eight of the competition for a chance to pick one of the four semi-final tickets.
