President of Dangote Group Aliko Dangote on Tuesday presented the first sample of Premium Motor Spirit better known as petrol produced by his refinery.

He presented the sample on Tuesday in a broadcast at his refinery situated in the Ibeju-Lekki area of Lagos State.

“I would like to salute the people of Nigeria and the government of President Bola Tinubu for giving us the platform for growth, development, and prosperity. I also want to thank him personally for creating the idea of the naira for crude. Doing that will give naira stability,” he said.

“As we have this refinery working, it will show the true consumption of Nigeria; we can track every loaded truck and ship.”

He further disclosed that the refinery is meant to serve not just Nigerians, but also sub-Saharan Africa.

He added that it would become possible to track loaded trucks, hence making it easier to compute the national consumption.

Last December, Dangote commenced operations at his $20bn facility with a capacity of 350,000 barrels a day.

The refinery was initially troubled by regulatory battles prompting the Federal Government to intervene.

The refinery earlier began the supply of diesel and aviation fuel to marketers in the country.

“Our PMS (Premium Motor Spirit) can be in filling stations within the next 48 hours depending on NNPCL,” an excited Dangote said.

Only NNPC filling stations nationwide will be able to sell Dangote fuel for now.
