Toyosi Etim-Effiong, wife of actor Daniel Etim-Effiong, has declared that her husband is free to kiss as many women as he wants on set, emphasizing that it does not affect their marriage.

In January, a promotional clip for the romantic movie Summer Rain was released, showing Daniel sharing a kiss with co-star Bolaji Ogunmola. The scene sparked mixed reactions on social media, with many questioning how Toyosi felt about her husband engaging in such roles.

Addressing the controversy in a conversation with Daniel on her newly launched podcast, Transparent, Toyosi revealed how she first came across the viral clip.

“I didn’t even know about the discourse because I don’t go to those places. When I got a Google alert and someone was saying, ‘check on Toyosi’s mental health,’ I was like, ‘what is it now?'” she said.

Toyosi explained that watching the scene felt no different from viewing any other movie. “When you or Bolaji sent it, it was like watching a movie; that’s it. It wasn’t me watching my husband; it’s me watching a movie, and that’s what these people don’t get. When you’re on screen, I don’t see Daniel; I just want to have a good time. How many times have I given you criticism like ‘this movie was not sweet.'”

She dismissed assumptions that she closely monitors her husband’s roles or co-stars, making it clear that she is unbothered by his on-screen actions.

“I don’t even watch all your movies, so there’s this assumption that they probably have that I’m obsessed and I sit watching everything you’re doing. Or I mark the faces of your co-stars, no! With Bolaji, I was even asking her how much she’d pay me to promote. Outside is outside and you’re my husband. Any kiss you want to kiss does not change that.”

Toyosi further reassured Daniel of her trust in him, saying, “Kiss any lady you want to kiss on set, you’re my God-ordained husband.”

Her remarks have stirred diverse reactions on social media. While some praised her for displaying maturity, trust and confidence in her marriage, others questioned her unconventional stance on relationships.

Toyosi and Daniel tied the knot on November 4, 2017, and have since welcomed three children: their first daughter in January 2019, a second daughter in 2021 and a third child in March 2024.
