Davido breaks silence on fallout with Tiwa Savage

Afrobeats star Davido has finally opened up about his fallout with fellow singer Tiwa Savage, describing their disagreement as a minor issue between “siblings.”

The 32-year-old spoke about the incident for the first time during an interview with The Breakfast Club, where he clarified the nature of their strained relationship.

“That’s my sister, we’re cool. Me and Tiwa used to stay in the same house. It was like brothers and sisters arguing. It was nothing,” Davido said, downplaying the seriousness of the dispute.

He explained that the misunderstanding stemmed from Tiwa’s close friendship with his first baby mama, Sophia Momodu, at a time when he and Sophia were involved in a custody battle over their daughter.

“The situation with Tiwa was kinda personal. You know she is very good friends with the mom of my first daughter, which we were quarrelling and fighting for custody. So I felt like you are supposed to help me with my daughter,” he said.

Davido also disclosed that although they have not seen each other since the fallout, Tiwa has reached out to him.

He added that if a reconciliation happens in the future, he’s open to it.

In January 2024, Tiwa Savage had written a letter to the Lagos State Commissioner of Police, alleging that Davido sent her a message after she posted a video of herself at a party with Sophia Momodu.

According to the letter, Davido felt mocked by the post and, through mutual friends, allegedly warned her to “be careful in Lagos.”

The incident came to light shortly after both artistes unfollowed each other on Instagram.
