Afrobeat sensations Davido and Burna Boy, alongside other top music stars, are set to perform at the inaugural Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) All-Star Game.
The event will feature a football match between players from the northern and southern regions of the league.
At a press conference in Abuja on Monday, NPFL chairman Gbenga Elegbeleye emphasised the significance of the All-Star Game in promoting the league.
“We’re building on the success of last year’s Super 6 tournament, where fans from across the country filled the Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium in Enugu to celebrate our homegrown soccer stars. The event was a major hit, with SuperSport providing live coverage,” Elegbeleye said.
He also underlined the NPFL’s importance to Nigerian football.
“The league is a permanent fixture in the country’s football ecosystem. While national teams may come and go, the league endures, and we are committed to elevating it even further,” the NPFL chairman said.
The All-Star Game will feature live performances from Davido, Burna Boy and other artistes.
A total of 44 players will compete—22 representing the Northern Conference and 22 from the Southern Conference.
Each player will receive a N1 million appearance fee.
In addition, celebrity coaches will join the regular coaching teams with each celebrity coach earning N2 million for their participation.
