Pop star Davido has been thrown into a state of mourning following the death of his friend, US-based fashion model Tommy Olawale.
The 29-year-old took to his Instagram story to share a throwback video of him celebrating Tommy on the latter’s birthday.
Captioning the post, Davido wrote “Tommy why.”
The cause of Tommy’s death remains a mystery although many have speculated that he drowned after a boat ride.
Actor Yomi Gold also took to Instagram to mourn the deceased.
He wrote: “Last night my whole body was telling me something. I thought about hitting you up Bcus I was in New York last night at the last minute thinking we could hang out.. then again I decided not to call your number. I went to bed feeling very unsettled. Tommy why? Hmmmmm nothing count in this world. Death don’t care maybe you work hard to be anything. Death don’t care even if you can’t find food to eat.Death don’t care about anybody regardless of your status saw, Tommy last week Sunday. I’m sick to my heart.”
Davido has been hit with several deaths in the last five years.
Olugbemiga Abiodun, a friend of the pop musician was found dead in his car in October 2017.
Another friend of the singer Tagbo Umeike also died in 2017.
In December 2020, Davido’s bodyguard, Tijani Olamilekan aka TeeJay died after a battle with an illness.
Davido’s aide Obama DMW died in June 2021 after complaining of shortness of breath, reports said he drove himself to a hospital in the Lekki area of Lagos where he eventually died a few hours later.
In September 2021, Davido’s photographer Fortune Umunname drowned in Lagos.
