Grammy-nominated singer Davido has opened up about his marriage to Chioma, reflecting on how different it is compared to dating and cohabitation.
Speaking on The Bootleg Kev Podcast, Davido revealed that he and Chioma lived together for eight years before officially tying the knot.
He recalled meeting her during his university days and credited their long-term bond for easing their transition into marriage.
“My partner and I have been living together for a long time prior to getting married. I met her in my third year in college, and I was lucky enough for us to move in together early—about eight years before we got married,” he said.
Despite their familiarity, the Unavailable singer admitted that marriage comes with its own challenges.
“The transition was smooth, but it’s different; getting married is no joke,” he added.
Davido also praised Chioma for being a strong support system, especially with the demands of his music career.
“Throughout the time we were living together, I was touring and really on the road. She always understood what I did for work, and she knows I’m at my happiest when I work. She knows I love music as she loves being in the kitchen,” he said.
Davido and Chioma got married in a traditional ceremony on June 25, 2024, in Lagos, Nigeria.
The couple welcomed twins in 2023, following the tragic loss of their first son, Ifeanyi, in October 2022.
